AltMountain is a directory of information drawn from public filings. Nothing on this site is an offer to sell, a solicitation of an offer to buy, or a recommendation of any security, fund or investment strategy. Any offer of interests in a private fund is made only by that fund's own offering documents, to eligible investors, in jurisdictions where it is lawful.
Not a broker-dealer, adviser or placement agent
AltMountain is not registered as a broker-dealer, investment adviser, funding portal or placement agent, does not provide investment, legal, tax or accounting advice, and does not take part in any investment decision, negotiation or transaction. AltMountain receives no compensation based on any investment in, or capital raised by, a listed fund.
No endorsement, review or verification
A listing is not an endorsement. AltMountain does not perform due diligence on any fund or manager and has not reviewed, approved or verified their filings, returns or claims. Fees paid by a manager for a customized profile or reporting service do not affect search order or rankings and do not imply review or approval. Manager-provided content is labeled and is the manager's sole responsibility.
Data sources and accuracy
Fund data comes from Form D notices filed with the U.S. Securities and Exchange Commission and is republished as filed, with formatting changes only. The SEC does not review Form D filings for accuracy, and filings may be incomplete, outdated or amended. “Raised” is the cumulative amount sold reported on Form D; it is not assets under management, performance or current value. Data is refreshed daily from new SEC filings and may lag the latest filings. Always confirm information with the fund and its offering documents. Corrections can be requested at no cost.
Eligibility and risk
Private funds are generally available only to accredited investors or qualified purchasers as defined under U.S. securities laws. Investments in private funds are speculative, involve a high degree of risk including the loss of all capital invested, may use leverage and short selling, are generally illiquid with limited withdrawal rights, are not registered with the SEC or any state regulator, and are subject to fees and expenses that reduce returns. Past performance, where shown, is not indicative of future results.
Conflict of interest
AltMountain is operated by Growth Preservation LLC, whose principal, Ward McKinley, is also the principal of the investment manager of Copernicus Hedge Fund LP. AltMountain promotes that fund in placements labeled “Sponsored · Operator's fund.” Those placements are advertising by an interested party, not an independent recommendation. Search results, rankings and lists are ordered by filing data and reported figures only and are not affected by sponsorship. Copernicus Hedge Fund LP is offered under Rule 506(c) to verified accredited investors only, through its own offering documents.
Performance information
Verified returns are reported by fund managers from their administrators' statements and are published only for funds offered under Rule 506(c), which may advertise publicly; AltMountain checks them against the statements provided but does not audit them. Funds offered under Rule 506(b) are never shown with performance figures. Estimated 13F returns are calculated by AltMountain from public Form 13F filings: they estimate the price return of a firm's disclosed long U.S. stock holdings, exclude dividends, fees, short positions, derivatives, bonds, cash and trading within each quarter, and are not the returns of any fund or account. Performance information is historical, may be incomplete, and does not predict future results.
No account or eligibility check
AltMountain is free to use without an account. Because it does not sell securities or arrange investments, it does not determine whether any visitor is an accredited investor or qualified purchaser. Each fund determines investor eligibility under its own offering documents.
Third-party names and links
Fund, manager and database names are the property of their owners and are used for identification only. Links to SEC.gov and other sites are provided for convenience; AltMountain is not responsible for third-party content.
Privacy and listing information
Listings include only the business information contained in public SEC filings, such as fund names, business locations and the names and roles of related persons. AltMountain does not publish personal home addresses. Managers may contact us to correct information or to remove optional information they added.
Signing up for updates is optional and never required to use the site. If you sign up, we keep your name, email, optional phone number and the funds you follow, and use them only to contact you about AltMountain. We call or text only if you checked the box allowing it. We do not sell your information or share it with any fund or manager. Every email includes an unsubscribe link, and you can ask us to delete your information at any time.
To understand which pages are useful, AltMountain counts page views without cookies. For each view we record the page, the website that linked to it, whether the screen is phone-sized, and a visitor code that is a one-way scramble of your network address and browser type. The code changes every day and cannot be used to identify you; we do not store your network address. Our host may keep standard server logs.
Advertising
AltMountain sells clearly labeled sponsored placements. Fund sponsorships are limited to funds offered under Rule 506(c). Paid placements do not affect rankings, search order or the data shown for any fund, and are not an endorsement or recommendation.
